Built by and for neighbors

Safe Sidewalk is a side project built by parents in Bernal Heights. After a pedestrian was hit and killed by a reckless driver in our sleepy neighborhood, we realized how much city infrastructure can contribute to safe or unsafe conditions for pedestrians.

When a curb ramp is missing, people using strollers, wheelchairs, or mobility canes are forced into the street. But if we alert the city to these gaps in safe and accessible sidewalks, the clock starts ticking and they have to address it.

There's a lot about SF to fix, but many hands make light work.
